Creating effective branded content means justifying expenditure and measuring success.
Engagement with the correct audience and managing their response is key. Everyone is vying for the eyeballs, but success means learning how to stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons.
Comedy is one of the most engaging forms of content but for many brands and marketing teams it may seem both daunting and risky.
It doesn't need to be.
Like all forms of content, comedy follows a set of rules, and the nature of the comedy can be tailored specifically to both brands and audiences. A funny line in the right place can turn a campaign around in a highly cost effective way.
Learn what is funny, why it is funny and how being funny can help you engage your audience in ways other content cannot.
We draw from the experiences of top comedians and content makers, citing specific examples of brands who have used comedy effectively to reach both their existing and new audiences cost effectively.
Using resources from across the content spectrum and the latest engagement statistics, this course draws on those experiences to explain why comedy has such a hold over audiences and how it can become an important part of your branded video content strategy.
Tom Radford is a writer from the UK. He has been working in video content creation with top brands and agencies in the Asia Pacific region for over five years.
Having setup his own content production company he now specialises in comedy content and commercials.
In his spare time he is a standup Comedian.

This course provides a crash course in how and why comedy content works and how to apply it to your branded content strategy.
It might be that you want to create comedy content yourself, or more likely commission it from another source. Either way you need to understand what you’re working with, and what to look for in good comedy content.
This is your opportunity to overcome that fear of putting funny into your content, and understand how far from undermining or trivialising your message, comedy will demonstrate to your audience that your brand is dynamic and in touch with the audience.
The Fast Track Workshop format was designed with regional audiences in mind.
They deliver intensive workshop experiences that provide delegates with the insights, skills and approaches to take what they have learned directly back to the workplace and apply to their everyday roles. They include:
Tasks and challenges
Our objective is to deliver key capability that will have an instant impact on commercial growth.
The course is mainly around comedy video content but really anyone who wants to create engaging content and is looking for a competitive edge in their industry should attend. We would expect you to have some experience of either video content development or content marketing but this is not essential. For example you maybe a writer looking to make the jump to video content.
In addition to an introduction and orientation, the workshop comprises six 45 minute sessions that combine formal presentations covering concepts and frameworks, alongside activities that allow delegates to put ideas into practice.
The style is professional but informal. Using comedy styles such as standup and improv we aim to create an enjoyable and entertaining experience which serves to drive home the point that comedy is highly engaging and accessible.
To overcome the fears and myths about funny content we will invite delegates to participate in workshops where they learn how to tell a joke or a story in a more amusing way. Together we will then explore how to take a product or offer and make it funny and engaging.
Finally we sum up up and explore how delegates can activate their new found knowledge within their existing business context.
Delegates will emerge from the course with a new found confidence that they can use comedy themes and ideas in their branded video content strategies moving forwards.
Whilst we cover a wide spectrum of comedy during the course, there is a regional focus.
The aim is to take your existing experience of content development and content marketing and give you the tools and confidence to create or commission funny content for your clients and your audience. Modules include
